About Lake Norman, NC - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Created between 1959 and 1964, Lake Norman is the largest man-made freshwater body in North Carolina. It is located just 20 minutes from Uptown Charlotte, and it is the ultimate visitors’ paradise. Surrounded by interesting communities like Huntersville, Davidson, and Cornelius, there is no shortage of things to see or do when visiting this ‘Inland sea” of North Carolina.

Not surprisingly, there are many recreational opportunities available on Lake Norman. Lake Norman State Park opened in 1962, and facilities include over 30 miles of mountain biking trails, a swimming beach, and a seasonal campground. Fishing is popular with the opportunity to catch largemouth bass, striped bass, bluegill, and catfish, and during the autumn months, waterfowl season attracts many local hunters to the area. Of course, water activities are also recommended when visiting Lake Norman, and you can find anything from power boats and pontoons to kayaks and paddleboards sharing the lake at the same time.

A humid subtropical climate is typical of the Piedmont region in the Southeast, and Lake Norman residents can enjoy four vastly different seasons during the year. Winters here are cool to cold but short in duration. Average daily highs in January reach about 50 degrees Fahrenheit, but there are nearly 60 nights per year in which temperatures fall below freezing. Snowfall is minimal, but residents should still be prepared for cold temperatures with the right gas or electric furnace at home.

The spring season is warm and rainy, and it leads into a humid and hot summer season. In fact, there are over 40 days each year in which temperatures exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit, so it is important that locals and visitors have a cool place to retreat. Energy Star central air conditioning systems can keep indoor conditions cool while also driving down monthly utility costs.
