About Cornelius, NC - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

The lakeside town of Cornelius is located in northern Mecklenburg County, NC along Lake Norman. As of 2017, estimates put the population at about 29,200 residents, up from approximately 24,900 at the 2010 census. Founded in 1893, the history of Cornelius centered on cotton and creation of the dam on the Catawba River. Along with Davidson and Huntersville, Cornelius serves as a Charlotte, North Carolina suburb. Citizens attend Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, and older students will complete their secondary education at William Amos High School, which opened in 2012.

There are plenty of things to see and do in Cornelius. Most people passing through like to visit Lake Norman, and outdoor recreational activities are also enjoyed at Jetton Park, Ramsey Creek Park, and Robbins Park. The D9 Brewing Company is a unique location to try a local brew, and thrift store enthusiasts may prefer a trip to Oak Street Mill Antiques. There are also many delicious restaurants in Cornelius, including Mac’s Speed Shop, 131 Main Restaurant, and Fresh Chef Kitchen.

Cornelius is located in a humid subtropical climate zone, and most residents appreciate the cool, short winters. Average daily high temperatures in January reach about 50 degrees, and the region only receives a few inches of snow each year. Overnight low temperatures frequently fall below freezing, so an AFUE-rated furnace or a reliable heat pump is a necessity. Regular maintenance of existing heating systems, air handlers, and ductwork will also extend the life of a heating unit.

Summers in Cornelius are hot and very humid. Average daily highs in July are about 89 degrees, but there are over 40 days each season in which temperatures exceed 90 degrees. During these uncomfortable times, a reliable air conditioning system is the one thing that Cornelius residents can rely on to keep indoor conditions comfortable, and a unit with a high SEER rating will help keep utility costs affordable.
